Emotions are a natural part of any human being. The spectrum is large, as is your capacity to feel things, and it’s okay to feel things strongly or not be affected by certain emotions. Everyone is different. Just because you don’t react to something in the same way as someone else doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.
It’s okay to feel negative emotions like sadness, anxiety, or worry. It’s all part of the human experience, but… you need to monitor them. If there are extreme shifts in patterns, or if your feelings start interfering with your ability to live… it’s worth seeing someone about it. This doesn’t make you weak; it means you’re strong enough to take charge of your own health and wellbeing. That’s admirable.
That being said, it’s also fine to feel good things. Some people can’t let themselves feel happy, because they don’t feel they deserve it. But… you deserve it! If happiness feels distant now… that’s okay too. It will come nearer, and you’ll be able to reach out and touch it. You can start heading closer to it in the meantime too, you know.
I never needed close friends.
There's never been anyone who sees me for who I really am.
